How to describe the main heroine of our story in Lovely Complex? Bossy, open-minded, outgoing, and loud. Did I mention tremendously tall? In a nutshell, this girl functions via impulse. Whatever she says or does is straight out honest and sometimes very rash, however, she does have a sweet side in supporting her friends. Just like any typical shojo manga, she's out looking for a guy but with a specific height: anyone taller than she is, good looking, and sweet. While she may find many guys tall, they're not exactly her age or into her, for that matter, she sort of blends in with the boys, at times. What sets her apart from other girls is her straightforward personality - it doesn't attract boys at all. In fact, I believe her biggest vice is the fact she doesn't fit the adjectives "cute" or "sexy", so you can see: A tall, pretty girl with no sex appeal or a cute personality = no love life, at all. Despite this, she still has a little shrivel of hope for love!Until Atsushi Otani happened. After him, her personality drastically takes a nosedive from desperate girl with hope to desperate, scared girl with no faith in love. Alot of fans like to agree, Risa gets very annoying as the story progresses, and as Otani begins to make her cry during unnecessary times. There's nothing too complicated about Risa, other than the fact she might fall for boys at first sight, and can easily be swept off her feet by sweet talk. Her ability to just shout out how she feels without feeling regret or worry - that's what makes her shine, as a leading lady. Most of all, her personality really does draw readers in, for the plain and simple fact: How can one girl who worries constantly about her height (this is the only thing she is paranoid about with the opposite sex) fall for a boy shorter than her, and furthermore, a boy with an equally bossy, firey personality?
