argumental "lovers' spat"
I want to have my freedom snatched away by a love I haven’t anticipated, oh, I could see it at a glance. I’ll give you cold words and warm kisses, this is love, this is love- "this is love" by hikaru utada
Risa and Otani are.. the classic definition of an unconventional, wildly strange pairing. Not only does their height complex pose some sort of challenge against them getting together, but they both share the kind of personality that just doesn't seem to clash very well. They're always at one another's necks, trying to overpower one another. It's really hard to see how they'll get along in the long run, or will they? They eventually do get along. What's the point to this section, you ask? Simply because alot of people dislike the idea of argumental-type couples. In my point of view, I find it challenging, and it's very interesting to see how a pairing of such firey caliber can actually settle down and come together. Most of the time, I don't see what the problem is with fighting and physical violence between two characters, because i'm always that nut-case that loves that quote: "You only hurt the ones you love."
But for some reason, Risa and Otani put this kind of thing on a whole new level. The make this kind of impossible thing.. possible! For instance, Risa and Otani would've never gotten along if they hadn't started out as friends who abusively cared for one another. If they weren't there for eachother in that "abusive" sense, I don't think either of them would have survived, and besides, two outspoken personalities have no other way to get along - or at least I don't think so. Sometimes, there are some pairings that can only find "togetherness" in trying to beat out one another, or can only potentially get together with some kind of tension going back and forth between them. Risa and Otani make a statement for these kinds of pairings, and not to mention, you gotta love the comedy that ensues between these two, it's unrivaled hilarity! For Risa and Otani, I don't think they could carry out a romance any other way, with any other kind of person. Why, you ask? For one thing, both of them don't like the pushover type. A perfect example is Haruka and Risa - they'll never get anywhere because Risa is more or less annoyed with his showerings of love. As for Otani, well, it'll seem like any girl is good for him, as long as she's shorter than him, but Otani's type is more of someone he can be himself with, and not have to act tall just because the male is typically taller than a female in romance.
And besides, not all romance can contain pretty flowers, hearts, and that certain feeling of "meant-to-be" ness, because where will all the excitement come from?
